My turn signal arm that sticks into my steering column must have a broken part inside. I can signal for a left turn and the arm will stay engaged until the turn is made and the wheel cancels it. I have to hold it in position if I want to make a right turn. Has anybody else fixed this type of thing? Is it a Jeep part or will another make part work (mine is a 81 Cherokee)? Also, my passenger side window is difficult to roll down past the first third of the window. I have taken the door panel off and I can't see where it is binding. I sprayed all kinds of snake oil in there but it still binds. Any suggestions?

I fixed it by pulling the door liner so I could see the crank mechanism. I then applied a liberal dose of grease to all moving parts, and to any place that appeared to have rub marks on them. That fixed the problem.

The gear mechanism that moves the window seems to have loose tolerences and will rub metal as it moves the window. Make sure you grease the side of the mechanism as well as the gear teeth.

What kinda stuff have you been spraying? WD40 will actually remove grease and make the problem worse. If you're looking for a good spray lubricant, go to a motorcycle shop and by chain lube. Its design to cling like crazy. The best stuff I've ever used is called "Chain Wax". Its the closest thing to spray grease that I've found.

Hope this helps ...

Got a spare from a 77 w/ tilt @ the house if you want. although you probably only need the switch (bout 30$ @ the parts house) you'll also want the gm steering column spring removing tool (bout 20$) you can do the job w/o but is a PIB.
