Does anyone here run Poly V8 motor mounts? I found some made by Daystar (P/N - KJ01003) and I wondered if anyone here has them. Do they transmit significantly more vibes than rubber mounts? What is your opinion onthem?
Thanks.

I have been running them for about 8 months now. I like the strength because I snap factory ones, but the down side is a lot of feed back (vibrations) get transmitted back to the chasis. It does not bother me now but it did at first. You kind of get used to it.

I have a similar question to tailgate onto this one. Newer vehicles—that is, many designed in the '90's, as opposed to our FSJ's, which were designed in the early '60's—do a lot better job of controlling sound and vibration. One of the ways they do this is with better engine mounts. Newer vehicles, like my T**rus, have big, fat, liquid-filled rubber mounts. Before they break, like all 3 of the ones on my T**rus have, they do a lot better job of keeping engine vibrations away from the rest of the vehicle than solid rubber mounts.
So my question: has anyone out there in the course of an engine swap used some of these newer style mounts? If so, how did you do it? I'm thinking you would probably have to fabricate and/or weld the top and bottom of a Jeep mount to each side of a newer mount. or maybe just fabricate a completely different bracket to mount to the frame? One problem might be clearance. My T**rus mounts seem to take up plenty of vertical room.
A high-torque factory V8 or diesel would seem to be an essential starting point for a donor. I've never looked at the motor mounts on newer factory V8's. Any of you parts guys familiar with Jeeps and other vehicle mounts have any suggestions?
I'm in the middle of an I6-V8 swap and haven't done the mounts yet.
If you go with the urethane mounts, use the Daystars.
Ive had mine for about 3 years now.
They have a thin insulating air passage on the top side which sits just under the exhaust manifold. This keeps the mount from absorbing the heat which in earlier versions weakened the mount. Have had no problem with mine. And yes, I did notice a little more vibration/noise but really only at idle. Once I get moving its just part of the experience. I have the tranny mount as well.

I already have an Energy Suspension poly tranny mount and I have MORE's Torsion Rubber I-6 Motor Mounts. I did notice more vibes when I did the poly tranny mount so I thought I would ask about how bad the motor mounts would be. I wish MORE made V8 mounts for SJ's out of the Torsion Rubber stuff. There is a guy on Jeeps Unlimited that sells the Daystar stuff cheap. I think I will try to get a set from him. Since I will be putting this 360 in my YJ, I will probably not notice it while driving with all the other shakes, rattles, and rolls.
Thanks.
