I have a TH400 w/mile marker part time and quadra traq with 4WD low... I am in the mountians allot and there are semi steep down hill grades where I would like to use the gearing rather than heat up brakes...

Can I go into low with out going into 4WD Hi... Basicaly 2WD Low is what I am looking at... There is no need for 4WD most of the time...

Thanks in advance...

THe low range is not built into the qt. I think it would work.
put it in low and test it.

yeah you can go into 2wd low with the part time kit but you'll be doing about 20 - 25 mph in third gear at 2500 rpm. Don't know if that will work fo you. You will have to stop moving to put into low...

OK I will try it out the next time up... These roads get very steep and are unforgiving with rock wall to one side and 200 foot shear drop off's to the other.

I did not want to go through brakes as often and if I can use gearing to hold her back all the better.... 20 mph is too fast in these hills with tight winding curves...

Why not just shift the tranny into 1st or 2nd gear?

Sounds like he does not want to become a dodo bird Scott (re: Corkscrew (http://jubileejeeps.org/ouray/06ouray/corkscrew/index.htm)). Running a QT that has MM PT kit in 2wd low works real nice. Just leave the vacuum switch alone and pull the low range lever up (unless you have a cable shift of course). :fsj:
