I'm replacing both the tranny/tcase mounts on my '78 Cherokee w/TH400 tranny and quadratrac tcase. The original "stud" mount was badly bent. After I put the new donut bushings and washers on the stud and tightened the nut, the bushings were still very loose. It seems that the nut bottoms out before compressing the bushings at all. The hole in the bracket where the bushings contact is 1-1/8" across and not quite round any more. Should the bracket be thicker at the hole or the same thickness as the rest of the bracket (if it were thicker, it would help compress the bushings)? Is there a bushing missing? Or should I just add more washers under the nut to compensate for the lack of compression? Or is this correct? It seems wrong to me.
