So today I took care of my real main seal in the '85. So far, the inside is clean and the oil pump is good. The RMS in the engine was the original plastic seal from the factory which also meant that this engine wasn't rebuilt in 25 years.

All of the parts were put back on, but with new gaskets and RTV Ultra Black.

Just got back from town, and the only drop of oil is coming from the valve cover.

I am happy... Now to stop it from ticking and burning oil :D

ROFL! No kidding, that's about the only time these things don't leak!

Actually I can't say that. Mine doesn't leak, it just weeps a little and gets blown all over the underside of the darn thing.

Cj, whatcha using for oil now that its not runnin like water? Something good and thick I hope.

I had a mix of 4 quarts of 15w40, and 1 quart of 10w40. Gradually it became more 10w40, some Lucas stopleak and a bottle of CD4. Before I go to AZ, I will give it either 10w40, or the mix I did before the whole cd4 and stopleak.

I like that 15w40 for summer, the jeep only gets the 10w stuff when temps start to drop. That and some lucas oil stabilizer year-round, and I've taken some engines in bad shape a looong ways. But then, if your oil pressure's looking okay its probably not a big deal anyways. :D
