i have been considering jacking up my 83' wagoneer. i have been looking at the rusty's 6" lift. now my only concern is that it is going to be to high. does anyone have any pictures of their wagoneer witht he rusty's 6" suspension lift. i reason i want 6" is i want to be able to run 33" tires without any fender trimming. thanx

The 6" lift looks really good with 33" tires. I have seen the 6" with 35's but I think thats pushing it without fender trimming.

There are several people on here with that lift, someone will come along soon with pictures.

Go for it. I did the 4" lift and wish I had done the 6". I plan on doing a body lift to help make up the difference.

I have that lift. I had to run 15x10 rims with 3 3/4 backspacing to get them to not rub. If you're wheeling you will rub a hair on the inside of the outer fender and will rub the corner of the front wheel well where it comes to a point. I trimmed my corner off and bent the fender lip in on the back. It still rubbed at full stuff and when it bounced hard. I got a 2 in body lift now and so far so good. I don't have any cuurent pics with the lift tho.

I've got it, but my fenders are trimmed too. check out my webpage (in my signature) I intend to run 38s once I swap my axles BTW.

i want my jeep to be a daily driving vehicle. but i still want it be the monster offroader. i just don't want to trim the fenders.

On a NT with 6" lift you'll only be able to run 33s with no trimming if you want do to monster offroading. You would be able to run 35s with moderate offroading with no trimming, but if you hit something bit, or stuff em good, you'll rub and probably start ripping fenders up.

You will have more luck reaching both if you go for a WT cherokee or a J truck.

so do you guys recommend the 6" rusty's suspension. my only real concern about going that high is i am afraid that i am going to mess up the drive shaft. i heard going to high will put at a too steep of a angle. is that true??

you will not "mess up" the drive shaft with the angle. You will have to extend it 1.5" if you want it to last though on the front. It's a good kit, I have no problems with it but I would have rater gone SOA and done RB's kit in the rear since this will be a rock crawler somday. If you don't want to mess around wiht this much fabrication, it's a good way to go. don't be afraid to cut your fenders, it's easy. Get some bushwacker XJ flares if you want it to still look clean after the cut.

not to ask another really stupid question, but how do you extend your front driveshaft?? do i have to buy a new one and if soo how much does that cost?

you find a local drivetrain shop. Look under axles, driveshafts, drivetrain or something similar. You remove your front driveshaft, it's held on by 8 bolts. It's really easy to do. Take it to them and they'll replace your main tube with one 1.5" longer. It cost me $90 with a new u-joint included to get mine extended. Then you bolt it right up and you're all set. I've seen/heard of prices in the $50 to $150 range for extending your driveshaft, so look around.
As far as tire size goes, and trimming fenders, what gear ratio and engine do you have on your rig? If you don't know this, lift up one rear tire with the vehicle in neutral (be careful obviously) and spin it one full revolution. Count how many times (approx) the driveshaft turns when you do this. This ratio and your willingness to change it, should be an important part of your decission. I'll explain why if you need me too once you know your ratio.

alright i heard about how i might have to exstend the steering column or something with a lift that high?? is this true. also will i have to run 33" tires with a 6" lift can i run 31" or 30" til i get the 33" just wandering thanx

Extend the steering column? You don't have to do that, the lift is not going to change the steering column in relation to anything. You don't have to run 33" tires with a 6" lift, you could run 28" tires with an 8" lift if you wanted.
You would look like an idiot if you did however.

hey larry,

I've got an 83 Wagoneer that installed the 4" skyjacker softride on and it was pretty straight forward (if you get the right stuff in your kit  )I origionally had bought 33" mtr's, whish did run just a little on the front leaf springs. I adjusted out the wheel stop screws and they quit it. I drove the crap outta it at my ranch and had no problems. A buddy hooked my up on a larger set of mtr's (35x 12.50's) and I decided to run those. I had to cut the crap outta my fenders, but its really easy and it truned out great. I've had several 4x4's and realised along time ago that going THAT big isn't always the best way. YOu're better off having as much tire as you can fit with the least amount of lift needed to fit them. ESPECIALLY if its your Daily driver rig.

Granted,t his is just my opinion, but I'm like you, same situation exactly. Go witht he skyjacker and 33's it looks and performs great. As soon as I can get my truck on the web somewhere, i'll lik the pics or email them to you
