View Full Version : another carb issue- what line goes on here?

I got my carb back in one piece after the rebuild (thanks to the help on my other thread), new gaskets and plate below it, and nearly all the lines reconnected.

However, I cannot figure out where this line is supposed to go.

There is a short piece of line coming off a port on the rear of the carb (near the passenger side upper corner of the rear of it). That short line connects to the angular metal tube in the photo. So, where does this tube connect into?

I tried reading the vacuum line diagram in my FSM, but it is very hard to make sense of. I will do some more searching to see if I can find a name for the port or what system it is related to.

Thanks for the help you guys provide. Couldn't own this jeep without it.

Looks like it might be the other pipe for the choke - if it is, it goes into the manifold adjacent to where the pipe coming off of the choke goes.

yeah - agreed . I did mine a couple of weeks ago , that pipe bends down and goes into the choke heater assembly in the engine block. (has two bolts that holds unit in) The pipe just push fits in - or did on my 1990 360.Warm air passes up that tube and heats up the bimettalic strip to pull choke off quicker.

Excellent, at least I've got a bearing on where to look now. I'd probably have this thing all set if I didn't have to keep work so much to buy all the parts.

Thanks again.

Cheers,

There's a plate on the passenger side of manifold, midway between front and back of the motor. The plate has two holes. This line goes in one of those holes.

The other line goes up to the choke. I notice you need to tighten down that choke hard line to the choke housing...
