I really should have taken pictures as I went along, however, this is not the last you will see of the "Wild Woody." I still plan on swapping in a bigger power plant (6.0) and a 4l80e. First, I am planning on finishing up the 4wd, new paint, some 2500 HD rims, new axles (I'm thinking 14 bolt), and 35 or 36 inch tires should have it lookin just about right in my eyes. Plenty of other little piddly things I want to mess around with too.

nice work. i've wondered about the 6.0L fitting with the 6 speed automatic. i bet that would be a screamer.

that shifter is just weird though.

Nice!

How does it feel compared to the 360?

get lost.. yeah the shifter is weird but it works out well for when I build the custom center console and put in new seats. I originally was under the impression this motor was a 5.3, but when I opened up the computer to tune out VATS and data log the start it showed up as a 4.8 and I was pretty bummed. My fault on that one, should have done more research on it before buying it from a guy in FL.

a couple more pictures..

Chris.. I bought the Wagon with plans of fixing the blown 360 it came with, but after looking at the numbers, the swap just made more sense to me!

Awesome! Just one suggestion - maybe fab up a cool air intake so you're not sucking in hot air from right above the radiator. Check your datalogs and you'll notice a huge improvement. :)

Also, I bought the Jeep when just before my 17th birthday and did most of the work myself, made my own motor mounts, tranny crossmember, fuel delivery, stripped and painted engine/engine bay. I credit my brother for teaching me that fuel injection may be harder to understand and a bit more expensive, but the pay off far surpasses the obstacles. I completed the swap and drove it out of the garage on my 18th birthday. Its a learning experience I will never forget and was an awesome birthday present.

Yeah my IATs hover around 180! It was a quick cheap fix to get it running but one of the many things I plan on improving.

After doing this I was considering doing ls swaps on the side. I'd be happy to help you take one on and offer advice if you wanted to do one yourself, or do one for you if I could find a bigger garage!

Thanks. I need to find a motor first.

One that I could afford.
