I posted a question already about this. My engine shop says it doesn't matter as long as I get the recipicating mass balanced(flywheel, crank, rods, pistons. Also it would be ok to use 360 heads on a 401. It would pick the compression up to about 9 to 1. I've been getting alot of conflicting info. The thing that really bothers me is they have also told me they don't see many AMC motors. Anyone have thoughts about these ideas? I have talked to another shop. They told me Edelbrock cams wouldn't work with Amc motors without lots of head mods. on lifters. both shops say why bother with performace oiling mods. Motor is good for 100,000 easy. Seems the real problem is a non-typical motor but I'm sticking with AMC motor. Just looking for more input before comitting.

The heads should be interchangable, things to pay attention are on chamber cc's/dog-leg ports. The 291C's are supposed to be THE best flowing. Unless you live in the upper RPM's most of the time, oiling mod's are not nessesary. BUT with a intake valley oil-line bypass & Hi-Pressure spring kit, won't break your wallet either. Cheap insurance for some peace of mind. smile.gif
