Hi Everyone,

I'm taking on a project of getting an old Right hand drive J20 back on the road and to its former glory.

This is not my first J truck but they are very hard to find over here, So I have had to start with a real basket case.

this will be a long slow build like most but I will keep you posted on any large movements of the build

This is what I have to start with

Ha! Right hand driver it is! I always noticed the frame on my J10 has power steering mounts on both sides, and here it is! Ya gonna flatbed it?

its going to be an off roader

I'm looking at a bed side back but are very hard to get hold of here.

I will more then likely fab up a rear rockcrawler type flat bed for now

Pre runner style front bar and rock sliders under the sills.

its a 360 with a 4 speed which is getting swaped out for a 727

16 x 10 eagle alloys and some 35" tyres (tires)

I come from an off road racing backaround and I like to do a bit of Fabrication

first things first It needs to be made road worthy before to many mods

The flatbed is the way I would go if I needed a bed. In my build ( link in my signature) I have a rust free bed and all the parts so were going to use it. You gonna be removing the front window or ya gonna try to get the dash back in w/o removing the window?....

( I think ya need to remove it )

The screws that hold the dash in, along the top edge, were a torx head w/ a square washer FYI. Here is a pic... well at least in my 79' they were.

If you don't already know it here are some resources if you need stuff...

....and there are some folks here whom have a large used inventory as well. I forget his name at this second. If you need it ask me...

Keep the pictures coming!

The windscreen is only in to stop dust and rain till I'm ready to install the dash.
I also have a dash pad in the shed from my last build... (without cracks)

the owner before me pulled everthing apart and 80% is here. I have all the crome moulds for around the windows front and rear, even the deck light.

It didn't have a back window so I had my sister send one over from Danbury Connecticut. the clip to lock it got busted in freight but the glass held up.

LOL I have a J 20 cab mounted on a Cherokee frame. M715 front fenders , 1940s Allis Chalmers tractor rear fenders. 42 gallon propane tank mounted behind the cab heavy guage 2 inch pipe roll bar. The spare tire carrier doubles as a tow bar. tires are 37X12.5X 16.5 Hummvs. When asked what it is we tell people it is a very rare only one ever imported into the USA, Jeep Australian Walk-A-bout! The first question after that is how hard was it to change the steering. We call it Crom the riddle in steel!!
Good luck with your build waiting to see pics

got a little done today....well finished something I started awhile ago.

I was reading all the posts of people have trouble with their ignitions. So I finished off my first project of the build.

I remade the bottom half of a Jeep dissy out of barstock. then I cut down a Chev one to be a press fit. drilled and machined the shaft and put it all together... to get this

Nice J20 - great to see another SJ here in OZ. My limited wagon is getting ready for paint at the moment, trying to get it presentable before tracking to the Jamboree in October. I shall keep a watch on your adventures.

Cheers,

Welcome from Canada, where we also still have the Queen on our dollar for reasons we're not quite sure!

It's alive

after sitting around in the shed for over 8 years, it runs

first was the coil, then all the rubbers in the carb (fuel everywhere)...lol

now I can move it around under its own power, I can bring it into the shed to work on it with towing it in and out....:D

Thanks heaps for the offer, But I find it easier and cheaper to get stuff out of LA Cali now. Because freight is the biggest killer. It was costing more in freight then what I was paying for parts.

But they are on the western side of the lake in Dunbury.
Its a nice place Danbury, but I have only ever been in winter right after being in Mexico for the Baja... Cold as. I bet its nice this time of year.
