I recently installed a 4" lift kit on my 88 wag and was wondering if anyone else noticed the axels moved out towards the drivers side. I looks weird. i thought it was from the trac bars, but i removed the rear one and it never centered. any thoughts what could cause this? thanks

That's strange. I can't see how that could happen.

It's the trac bars, as you lift and they angle away from center line they 'shorten-up' and pull the axle towards the frame mount. If you jack the truck up and put jack stands under the frame to unload the rear, then loosen the U-bolts and shackle mounts it should line up, maybe a push or pull to help out.
Just don't let the rear end hang by the brake line or the shocks, and you'll have to modify or eliminate the trac bar.

if they were disconnected would it still matter?
although realigning the u-bolts sound like the right idea they do need attention since i installed the lift.

Pull the track bars and throw them away. You won't need them. I removed mine when I lifted it 6 years ago and haven't missed them.

Then realign the axle housings as previously described. Bet it'll cure it.

That's not normal. Check to see that you have your axle aligned and a that the centering pin in actually inserted where it should be. I suspect that it is not.

I had this issue on an XJ that I lifted before they made relocating brackets and adjustable trac bars. I lifted the front 4" and the axle shifted over an inch to the drivers side. I just unbolted the trac bar and centered the axle and re-drilled the bracket, with the coils on the XJ I didn't have to loosen anything up. It's the same principal on the Waggy with leafs except you don't need the trac bar to locate your axle, that's done by the leaf springs, so the trac bar is not really necessary on a leaf sprung truck.
