Hi all. I'm sorry that my first post is a question but I need some help.
I just rebuilt and installed a AMC 360 and installed it into a 82 Jeep Cherokee Chief. During the process I installed a new clutch, pressure plate, and throwout bearing. I went from a 10.5" to a 11" clutch on a T176 trans.
I fired up the new engine last night and let it run 30 minutes at fast idle to break it in (I had to loosen the flywheel cover bolts because something was rubbing).
When I jumped in to take for a test drive I was unable to get into gear. I adjusted the clutch all the way in and all the way out neither way helping.
As it sits now I can put in first gear (engine not running) press the clutch pedal and try to start- vehicle lunges forward.
It seems the clutch is not disengaging the flywheel??? This is my first clutch install- what could I possibly done wrong?
Any suggestions / comments are welcome. Help if can!!!
