And it can be yours for the "low" price of $4500.00 firm??!!!!! As far as the guy states it does have a ticking OEM 401/TH400/ and QT. It has 85K on the clock with a recovered seat and two owners in it's past. States it works fine but man what a price.
If anyone "really" wants the phone number, PM me and I send it to you.

I like the looks of it but that seems high...
Hope his house payment isn't dependant on the sale of the truck.

While I would be hard pressed to pay that, consider what you're getting.
1K worth of winch...700 for a running 401, trans, qt are worth 500. Tires good..200. That's 2400 right? Straight, rust free( or probably small amount), good paint, worth another 2100..
There is a guy here in GR Wyo w/ a 73 J3000 he wants 6900 for..Go figure but good ones are getting harder to find,,right?
Just like this one. Camper can't be worth more than 1K

It looks great from those photos but how much rust does it have?

Pardon me while I be critical ... That '72 has 5-lug axles, so it's not a "1 ton" which to me means the 8000 gvwr Z truck (if anything). Likely the 6000 X or 7000 Y truck with the 60-2 axle. An X truck would be light for an 8' slide in, plus these trucks have 12" brakes...
Regarding the J20, what year is it? From the color (Fairway Green?) I suspect it's a '74. The paint is failing on the hood, and it looks to me like the horizontal surfaces are quite sun damaged. IIRC the 2-color scheme is white above and color below for that year? And with a stainless trim divider. Someone must have added the white panel later. I like the color though.
To me, $4500 is not outrageous for this truck if there's nothing wrong with it. Certainly I would expect a fully functional BW1339 with a tight chain for that price, a TC that shifts and drives like it should, and no obvious reverse clunk. People usually sell cars for a reason, so I'd look closely for a mechanical issue. If I were in the market, and it were really what I wanted, and it has no obvious faults, I'd buy it and be proud. If I were going to own it for more than a year or two, the purchase price doesn't mean much more than bragging rights. Registration, insurance, fuel, tires, fluids, parts... you'll easily spend more than the purchase price in a couple of years.

4500 doesn't seem that out-there for a classic truck to me.
Hell, Neons go for that price around here though.

Seems a little high. I'd feel comfortable paying $3,500 these days. Of course my bf found a '78 Golden Eagle with factory brushguard and rollbar in near-mint condition for $1,800 about 7 years ago. That's unheard of in L.A.

As far as info on the truck, what you see is what I got kids.....
I agree with a couple of the posts here. If it's a sound, no rust, truck with a clean title, I'd pay $3500.00 max for it because I also agree a non-beater, rust bucket, oil eating, J-truck is hard to find. I'll try to get some more info on it for you all.

so it's not a "1 ton" Absolutely agree, ,the dude also stated it had a 60 front which I would love to see.. Kinda like the hi-boy fords in the day which supposedly so great..they had less tcase clearance than our vernerable J trucks. I left too many at the bottom of the hill.
Again though,,there seem to be some decent trucks showing up these days guys..might want to think about grabbing one....the one Flint showed looks real interesting.

if it is rust free and is in good runing order, meaning that i could drive it several hundred miles with no wories. i may pay that price.

I'd pay that much if it runs out well and has no hidden rust. Especially if the taigate is reasonable. You can spend a lot of money trying to get one to that condition. Much easier to start with a good platform. I recently missed an excellent one owner, very straight 401 powered wagoneer. This thing did not need to be restored. It was obviosly well cared for by its origional owner. The asking price was $4,900. I regret I did not call and make an offer sight unseen. My first wagoneer was free and my second cost $900 so I am no stranger to low dollar aquisitions but I'd guess I have at least $4,900 in each now and neither are yet in the same condition though close. To the right buyer that truck will go fast at $4,500 firm. Just my $0.02.

it is nice one! I wish it was going for 145000.00 then I could tell my wife that I was a genius and was 'printing money'...
If you guys can start getting 10K and up for this babies (I think they are worth it! even if just for the cool factor) it will be great for all of us in the hobby.
I think it would be fun to go from 'hundred-aire' to 'thousand-aire' maybe someday.... millionaire...
HONEY, We're gonna be RICH! bwhahahahahahah

It's just what the market is. I'm sure that there would be like 4 or 5 people that will pay $3,500 for it. You have to somehow try to make your truck stand out. Maybe he will get $4500. They won't go down in value. They are not like Liberty that will just depreciate with value. The seller is smart. Someone may pay $4500 for it. I don't know if it is worth $4500, but that is not a bad price for the truck.

Personally, I hope he gets that for it. I'd like to see the value of these trucks start to climb. Although not rare, clean ones with minimal rust are getting harder to find.
I have way more than what he is asking in mine and I haven't even started on body and paint yet. I think it's cheaper in the long run to pay more for a truck in good condition than a fixer upper for cheap like I did.

It's maybe a little high but it could be worth that. I depends on a lot of unknown factors...most importantly rust.
I wonder how that winch is mounted? That mounting was a factory option at some point right?

$4500 ! that seem's like a steal compared to the guy's on ebay . . . $9 grand for a mint fully restored truck ! and $3000 for a rotten POS
I'd grab it for $4,500 but here is the trouble its only got 4 tires  Automatic transmission
I want 6 tire and a manual trans . . .
