I put my Doug Thorley headers from BJ's on the other day. Well today I got my exhaust hooked up. I am running a 3" inlet dual 2 1/2 outlet knockoff magnaflow muffler with exhaust tips. It sounds a lot better, apparently I had a small leak where the passenger side exhaust manifold hooked up to the exhaust pipe. No leaking sound now. The only downside I see is my MPG went down, I couldn't keep my foot out of the gas:D . Just thought I would share.

Nice! How do you like the new found power? My bro-in-law put Thorleys and our exhaust kit on his and it came alive...

So why'd you pick the Thorleys over the Edelbrocks? Significant price difference...is there a corresponding quality difference? I'm looking on BJ's site right now with the IFSJA discount the Edelbrock ceramic coat w/o AIR tubes is 395....same setup with the Thorley is 515

Thorley's use thicker tubing, the ceramic coating and the header are lifetime warranty AND they come with a mandrel bent Y-pipe. This is a mid-length header so more torque and it is also a Tri-Y header, 4 pipes into 2 and then 2 into 1. It helps add torque as well.
The Edelbrocks are using your stock non-mandrel bent choked down y-pipe.
I am not knocking Edelbrocks quality, it's just the Thorleys are a little better. Edelbrocks are just fine.
Both are USA made!

Ooh I missed the fact that the Thorleys came with the Y pipe! Hmm...reconsidering...

I wished I hadn't waited so long to get them. I looked at the Edelbrocks but I wanted to go with what I thought would last and fit better. I got them put on in around 2 hours. Bolted up the muffler straight to them and drove it to the exhaust shop. They sound real good with the new exhaust setup. Now the air tubes are out of the engine bay you get to the spark plugs and the motor looks a lot cleaner. Nothing like more power to run over Zombies.;)

Fired up the 401 for the first time last night. Its got a set of Thorleys on it dumping into a 3" in/3" out muffler. The sound is AWESOME!!!!! Very easy install as well.

I run the Thorleys on mine, believe it or not it was about $500 cheaper to bring them into Australia from US (even after freight) than to try and get some made here....... :(
They are great, easy to fit, came with everything needed. Look fantastic (when new anyway- now fairly mud stained), sound great, and added response right through the range.
Did i mention they also sound great?

Don't know if it matters much to you (BJ's) but did you know that your website still has some incorrect information about the Edelbrock Shorty headers?
The flanges on the Edelbrock Shorty headers for the Jeep are 3/8" thick not 1/4" thick as indicated on the BJ's website. Just thought I would mention it again in case you wanted it to be correct.
Also, not sure yet but we (Edelbrock) may be developing a mandrel bent Y-pipe assembly for the 80-91 FSJ application. This Y-pipe would work with the stock exhaust manifolds as well as the new Edelbrock Shorty headers (that will be available in about 3 months) for the 80-91 application.
If anyone would like to see this happen please send me a PM, I could use the amo in the new products review meeting.
Thanks

Fixed it.
I emailed you a week ago, did you get me some eta's on the items I had questions about?

Sorry, I thought I replied to you. If I remember correctly you wanted to know when the new headers would be available and when pricing would be, available right?
We should be wraping up the tooling this week. I'm going to try to get pics posted in the next day or so. We are going to do one final test fit before releasing it to production. First production systems should be available mid to late July. Pricing is not really my area, but they should be priced about the same as our existing Jeep V8 Shorty headers.
Thanks
Dennis
