i am able to get a good deal on a rebuilt 727, but the tailshaft is setup to use an international Scout dana 20. i have an 85 GW that is stock. would i be able to pull parts off my 727 to make it work with whatever type of transfer case and rearend i have?

You'll need the housing that is currently in your GW now. You can pull the guts out of the other one and install them in your current housing.
