Hello:

My 90 Grand Wagoneer has a total of 54,000 miles since new. I would like to keep the engine purring. Knowing that many of you run synthetic oil in your engines, what are the pro's and con's for synthetic?? Which brand?? What oil filter??

Thank You

Use the search at the top of the screen, and type "synthetic oil", and you will find a zillion posts to the topic. I would not recomend it unless the motor was originally ran with it. Best bet is 3k mile changes, and a WIKS filter. Welcome to the forum.

Yea what he said. Synth oil cost too much for much a return. If you don't do many stream crossings and the like with your GW you might consider putting synth fluids in your xfer case, axles and tranny as the intervals for changing them are alot longer. It may help reduce a little friction/wear.

Thank You Reddog!
I do like the idea of running synthetics in the diff/axles, xfer case and trans.

I don't run the GW into streams, etc., only occasional snow & Ice.

Do you have specific brands/grades that you find favorable for each?

Thanks again !
