Hi All,
Posted a few min ago, but there is something wrong with the thread?
I recently gutted my duraspark control module and put a 4-pin HEI module in it. http://www.ifsja.org/forums/vb/showthread.php?t=108407
Having a problem now... similar to this thread, where it stalls at low speed:
http://www.ifsja.org/forums/vb/showthread.php?t=120587
The motor stalls any time the idle drops below about 700 rpm. I did not have this problem with the duraspark module and it runs fine otherwise.
I've watched the timing marks with timing light connected and the vac advance disconnected and I can see the spark retard when the idle drops.
I tried reversing the pickup coil wires and retiming it; runs REALLY bad reversed, so I'm pretty confidant the polarity is right.
Is it possible that there is something wrong with my pickup coil? Maybe I'm not getting a strong enough pulse to time it accurately at idle?
Or the reluctor, do they go bad? Is it just a hunk of metal, or is it magnetized?
Thanks,
Walter
