View Full Version : Water film in engine oil filler tube?

I've noticed that there is what seems like a water/oil mixture in my engine oil filler tube. I cleaned it out last week and it's there again. Checking the dipstick, there is no water in the oil, and the water level stays the same in the radiator.
I also checked the PVC valve (seems to be OK) and cleaned the metal tube that comes out of the manifold and leads to the PVC valve.
The engine runs really strong at all RPMs
Has anyone experienced this, or have an idea where this could be coming from?
Thanks.

these water is part of the moissture in the oil, is a combustion product,

occurs most when you do not drive your vehicle for long distances....I bet if you drive your hot rod for 50 miles or so it will vanish...

Thanks for easing my mind, I was hoping it was something like that.
Veepster, what kind of rack do you have?

Boonierat, you should go to Veepster's website and look around, he has done a ton of work to his Wag.

Boonie,
Are you using the stock (sealed) cap for the oil fill or one that vents? I have an Edelbrock venting breather cap on my oil fill and am planning to dig out the stocker and put it back on. I think that is part of the reason I am getting the same thing on mine that you are. Plus I am getting alot of oil vapor coming from this and actually oil sitting on my intake. I noticed a very good concentration of oil on my plug wires that are right under the opening for the breather. I'm pretty sure that this'll take care of most of my problems relating to this.

Roger that on the stock oil filler cap. As far as I know, everything is stock. At least I'm not alone with this.
"ODie" has set for awhile (8 months) before I decided to get it working again. So now thatI'm running it again as my daily driver back and forth to Post (100 miles round trip), some of the things that accumilate from a vehicle setting will work themselves out.
Thanks again.
Stangster, that's a nice looking FSJ you have.
Out here.
