Stay with my guys, Im kind of new to all these vacuum lines...

I have a 86 Jeep Wagoneer Limited. Motor was overhauled about 6,000 miles ago. The nitwit that put the engine back together failed to used many of the vacuum lines again. 3 of them are broken as well. I went through and connected some of the vacuum lines but a few are either missing altogether or don't have the diagram showing me exactly where they go.

See if you can help me.

1. Orange thingy sticking out of the top of the intake manifold that has 5 vacuum connector points on it.

2. a red hard plastic hose I found melted near the tranny.

3. a green and yellow hose wrapped up around the brake lines on the drivers side that each has black rubber boots on the end of them and they appear to have R Delays inline. They originate (I think) around the passenger side where there are 2 cannisters. (are these the TAC VAC MTR and EVAP VAC MTR?)

Thanks in advance. Sorry for so many questions. You guys have been a world of help!

I'm gonna try to help you:
The red hard line and the green and yellow (hard lines?) go to the transfer case. The Green and yellow are for 4wd and 2wd from the dash switch to the transfer case vacuum motor - dunno which is which... The red hard line is the vac source from the motor to the transfer case.

The "orange thingy" sounds like your Dual CTO switch. Is it in the rear of the motor? It controls vacuum to (among other things) the EGR valve.
This might help:

Good luck!

Thanks for the reply. You were absolutely correct. The 4 wheel drive wasn't working ever since the engine was rebuilt.

I'll make sure I NEVER take another vehicle to the guy who rebuilt it.

The orange thingy IS my dual CTO, but it is at the front of the engine block.

Thanks again for your help!
