After a struggle to finish other projects and clear the garage, I am finally working on the truck.

It has what I believe is a factory sunroof poking up through the horribly beaten to death softtop. Which of course means the headliner is going to be a royal PITA to replace. I tore it down as it was sagging and it will be a bear to replace. Working on ideas since I wasnt able to find much on the site for replacing headliners with sunroofs.

I am also working on the gauges, the old cluster had a couple gauges that weren't working, replacing, hoping the issue is at the gauge vs the sending units. I need to do something with the glove box, the paper one was shot. Anyone have metal inserts or solutions for that? Paper, glove box made of paper? Sheesh.

Also on the immediate list is to get the windows working. All the motors work but the rails are likely bad. Some go down a bit, some go down but not up, etc. And when working on that, I am planning on replacing the window weather strips, the originals are SHOT, esp on the outside.

I am also going to replace all the door locks, the only key I have for the doors is broken off in the passenger, have to figure out easiest way to pull these tumblers and get a new set (hopefully from the junkyard).

Other bigge is the parasitic battery drain. So far, it eludes me, but I am not done trying to solve that issue.

looks like you have your work cut out for you. What color is the GW? Kinda hard to tell from the roof top. Looks like a 1984 model. Very nice.

And I thought Bessie was in rough shape! Looks like you have a handle on things and a good start, too! Interior looks exactly like mine. How are the seats?

Cool wag.

Headliner, I'm sure you'll have to cut the hole for your sunroof yourself but Since you have a sun roof and I dont.......Iv decided to not feel bad for ya.

here is a link to your headliner

I installed this glove box in my Cherokee. Was tough to fit in there but the end result was awesome. You have to snake it in from behind. lots of old cars have paper glove boxes. Here is a link to the plastic one bj's sells.

Goto www.bjsoffroad.com and order a plastic glovebox (have fun installing it though lol).

Also, I'm not sure if that year still had it, but bypass the amp gauge right away. I read about that on forums for a while but didn't bypass it until it finally fried and blew out all the electrical components I just replaced on my 76.

It's fun workin on these until you have to replace the same part more then once or twice because of a poorly designed gauge that's easily bypassed.

It was initially the pretty maroon color, now, it looks like a sidewalk where someone was shot last week. It is a lot of little items, that I could ignore and just drive it, but I would like to get Ugly Betty back to being a good looking truck. The big thing is she doesn't have a lot of rust, only on the rear qtr panels.
