Somebody probably has this number in print some where. My guess is about 500#. I know the block alone is right at 160#.

I think it's right at 600lbs, Harbor Freight has a pretty good stand rated for a 1000lbs.

Number commonly used is 540lb incl heads, manifolds etc.
Buy the heaviest rated eng stand you can afford. You may sometime have an I-6 mounted and a long motor like that really stresses a stand.

These engines are really heavy. Honestly if you are going with a long block you really wouldn't need the stand. Just use your engine hoist and set it down. A fully dressed 360 even on a 1000 lb. stand seems like too much.

I'm using the stand in the link below, 1000 lb. capacity.

Wikipedia an AMC V8, I think thats how I found it once. AMC V8 or 360 anyway. Acording to what I have found, Azpackrat is right, right around 600# fully dressed.

I am with Joe and 89GW360NP229Dana44, get the heaviest/best stand you can.

Weight is not the only force at work against a stand if you are working on the engine while its on the stand. Torquing "xxx" bolt to "YYY" ft/lbs with a big torque wrench, plus the weight of the engine, plus your buddy trying to hold it all still (by leaning on it ) = a lot more than the weight of the motor.

Get the model above that. It's overkill, but when dealing with mass-produced stuff that is required to support a heavy load, overkill is GOOD.
