A funny thing happened on the way home tonight. I met Newbie... seems to have alot of good ideas, but I'm still gonna try to make his idea of elliptial 3/4 sping suspension in the rear be lighter than the weight of stability. http://www.ifsja.org/ubb/smile.gif

Anyway... on the way back my motor was running a little quirky. I thought maybe my half-trashed carb might have something to do with it. Anyway, I hear a small whistling and a few backfires and then BAM! I hear a scraping noise. I don't panic, at first I thought it was bearings again knowing my luck. Sure enough I throw it in neutral, hit the gas a few times and nothing. There's no problem with heat or oil. So I remember what happened when my tailpipe fell off right past the muffler.

I get out and sure enough, my piping right from my catalytic is broken and the muffler is being dragged on the ground. So now I have two sections of piping that are about 4 feet long and in the bed of the truck! MY exhaust system currently is just the Y-pipe and a catalytic.

The funny part is, it's slightly quieter because there's no boat noise... its just a rumble that's nice n' deep. There's WAY less hesitation which brings me to the conclusion that the stock diameter piping on a slightly beefier motor isn't good enough because there's alot less backpressure against the motor now. I've got better throttle response now.

Does the inside of the cat glow orange normally? What about little blue flames coming out of it every once in a while?

Hey Newbie.. you shoulda seen it! http://www.ifsja.org/ubb/biggrin.gif

Dang, I missed it! Hey, she sounded pretty nice when you cranked her, maybe it was me, but she didn't sound like a boat. Lemme know if I can help with the exhaust install when you get ready!

Peace,
newbie (Two Stars!)
