I guess I would like to know why you feel your timeing is 180. To be honest it will not run with timeing out that far. It would blow flame out the carb.

You sure the distributer wasnt replaced and maby put inn one tooth off? This is a common thing among novices. This will wack out your timing unless you got and move all your plug wires over one notch.
But ya if it was actually 180 degrees out it wouldent even start. You could do seious internall damage as well.
So if you turn it over with a timing light on it what does it read? If it was 180 degrees out you wouldent even see the timing mark, as it would be on the bottom of the pully.

hmmn, yeah , it would prolly run. plug wire positions on the cap would be different tho. should be easy enough to check. even chitlins would have the firing order and a diagram of the cap. if yours dosnt match, it s a matter of finding tdc of #1,noting where the rotor points and relocating dist shaft so rotor points to right cap hole. po prolly got tdc ignition and tdc exhaust flipped. and just re did the plug wires. prolly the dist is retarded cuz the vac adv is hitting the engine.
