Picked this one up awhile ago to start building. I found it on accident looking for axles for my cherokee. It was wheeled hard for 3 years then it sat in a field for 5. I live about an hour from the hammer trails so that's what it will be built for plus a little bit of speed my goal is a dual sport. will get pics up as it progresses.

Im pretty sure that frame is not an early frame. A 65 would have have the springs on the outside of the frame. I cant tell if the front axle is open knuckle or closed knuckle, but in the pics they appear to be 5lug wheels. 5 lug wheels were closed knuckle fronts, and 6 lugs were the open knuckle newer versions.

Its closed knuckle front. those pics aren't the best but both front and rear springs are outside the frame.

OOps my bad:D After looking back at the pics I dont know what I was thinking:confused: .
Cool looking rig though:thumbsup: Mine is (was) a 65. I used a 10bolt front and front chevy springs up front under the frame with shackle reversal and ran 38s with no rubbing.

I like how that bed is cut, was it a short bed to start with? I am looking at doing it to my truck but its a long box, might look a little funny.

yes it was a short bed to begin with the po said he cut a foot out of the bed. Im not sure on the long bed I thought I read some where they were cutting a section out before and after the wheel well to make it like a short bed but I think the springs and axle have to be moved forward to match the bed. If i find any info on it ill post it.

Yah I was thinking of cutting front and rear, moving the axle is no biggie cause I was planning on adding chevy 3/4 ton axles and 64" springs

well the axle deal fell through kinda bummed on that. so went with my pops to find parts for his truck and this followed me home. I know its not amc but it should do pretty good when its done 6.0 vortec.

What engine is in it currently?
And that should be the stock frame. My '65's springs are outside the frame.

I may be on the lookout for that very setup if my father ends up purchasing a Wagoneer. I wonder what the freight shipping would be for an 800-pound engine to Tennessee?

Alot! I bought a SBC cheap once and had it shipped from Maryland to California. I could have bought one out here and built a heckuva hot rod on what it cost me to get it here.

Crap. My dad will need a spare 327 because of the rarity of rebuild parts. And he'd love a four-speed to swap that auto for.

It will prolly be awhile before the swap gets done but I would send it to you for just whatever the shipping is. Id rather see it go in a fsj than it just go to waste or get scrapped.
