I'm really just venting. Everything is torqued, and the 'ticking' is driving me CrAzY!!!! gggrrrr........ :mad:

Did you replace the gasket? That was the source of my exhaust "ticking".

Did you know that in 1976 all CJ's and all Jeeps sold in California had an exhaust back-pressure sensor? There's also a restrictor plate with it. I just saw this in the 76 TSM, but it doesn't show where it's located. Could be on the driver's side of the exhaust, just like the heat riser on the passenger's side. Might be on your 77. Want to check it out for leaks, as the asbestos-like doughnut can crack and leak.
