Okay, have a Jeep that used to stall when I hit the gas:

Then I had it fixed:
http://www.ifsja.org/cgi-bin/ubbcgi/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=2&t=007989

Ran great for about 200 miles. Now it wants to (and did, once) stall on me when I'm idling, in gear, with foot on brake.

And it's not too great when I hit the gas.

Any guesses? Strategies for troubleshoot/fix? I'm questioning my timing, my carb settings, and my fuel lines/filter.

Also considering converting to fuel injection but would hate to do that if there is another (fuel related) problem I should be handling.

I'm willing to install a new fuel sender and run all new lines if anyone knows where that stuff can be had on the cheap.

Thanks,
Jeff

If you have power brakes-I would check the booster and or check valve in the vacuum line. If not-I have no idea-maybe a float adjustment?

could be a problem with your brake booster...

You say wants to stall when you hit the brake and doesn't take the gas too well. Could this be a very LEAN fuel mixture? Maybe even a vacuum leak thats been kinda fine tuned out so that it's not apparent anymore except during these times... That's my first thought. But, I could be out in left field here. Well, I've been there before.....

You know, I kinda responded to this above before looking back on your previous postings. It does sound like I was on the right track.
Since you're thinking about putting in a sending unit, go ahead and get all that crap out of your gas tank. Sounds like you've got a bunch in there and it's getting forced thru your gas filter and into your carb, because it sounds like your carb is stopped up again. Clean the tank, flush the lines, replace the filter, do a thorough soak-cleaning of the carb and put a kit in it.
Geez, now that I look at it, that's a lotta work...but, it might just get you back to "Happy Motoring"....

Check your E.G.R. valve to see if it works properly and check for a leaky egr gasket as well, that was the problem with mine.

From the 2 previous problems, I'd bet that a carb kit and a new fuel filter would make a world of difference!
