Well after a 3 year hiatus from Jeeps I have finally had my "man card" re-instated http://www.jeepkings.ca/forums/images/smilies/lildevil.gif. I've snagged a 1980 J20. I'm not sure yet if I'll be running it on 37 and turning it into a tow rig with a set of 38.5s for the odd trail run or going hardcore and turning it into a full size trail rig/remove the box and cage it up. It's open diff D44/D60 with a home lift and 38.5 TSLs (sitting on 36"buckshots in the pick) I'll be beadlocking the TSLs. It also has had a crate 360 dropped into it with about 1200 miles on it. Not a bad base and body either (for a Canadian FSJ). Some welding on the hanger will be required. It even has a 15 000 Warn winch ready to go. It has not been started in 2 year so along with a full brake job, I'm sure there will be other little surprises.
I've got some research ahead of me; I have not played around with any of the full-size jeeps before so I may be reaching out to you full-size savvy guys.
What I know at this point is that I have a high steer, selectable lockers, a new lift and some framework ahead of me. I'll also be getting it certified, so the usual work to get it on the road as well. I think I'll keep the rear axle but the D44 is probably going to be swapped.

Welcome from the Valley of the Sun, your pic is kinda' small but it sounds like a solid rig. Nothing like a J-truck with a brow.

Nice looking rig. That front bumper looks to be huge. How far does it stick out in front of the truck?

Welcome form SoCal. Watch out Jeeps have a tendency to multiply if you aren't watching them:D
