Body moldings? Or Not?

I have a two tone 82 J10 with large (1 1/2) side body moldings. I am prepping it for paint and trying to decide to go with or without the molding. i know the moldings that were on it not very impressive but I was wondering did it come from the factory with side moldings. If so what type? Also I was thinking of replacing the side mirrors on it too. I would like to mount some thing that swing in against the body. Any recommendations?

I'd dump the moldings since you live in michigan. They are a great place for rust to start.

I personally don't like the moldings EXCEPT on a two tone , then they look fine.

My 83' J10 had mouldings that were from the factory...most of it wasn't even on straight, seriously, I think the person who put it on at the factory must have been drunk that day. So I peeled them off.

moldings are a good place for rust as someone said earlier,if it was me I'd replace them with stripes if you like the look. It would be cool:cool:
