So following up my fixit ticket for my police painted wag, I gotta think of a new paint job. And whether or not to do woodgrain.
I like the old school teal color of classic cars.
But then again I love the red wag with woodgrain on grandwagoneers.com
(plus it'd be a good homage to my wags firefighting past)
decisions...decisions...

I have NEVER seen your wagoneer. That much I know, and I'm relatively in your neighborhood. lol

The Colorado Red Grand Wagoneer with tan interior is a beauty! I've only seen maybe 2 in person. It is absolutely my second favorite color combo. It really is quite stunning:

Where's the "drool" smiley?? Darn.

I was thinking about using a late 80s Ford bronco color scheme for my GWag. The white main coat, dark blue squares, and light and lighter blue pin stripes.
But the choice is yours.

You got a fix it ticket for that? I've owned 2 old police cars that aside from the emblems being gone looked EXACTLY like current police cars on the road and I never got hassled about the paint, and only once about the cage in the back of the first one, which I took out after that.

Ya I got a ticket and ya I bet I could fight it. But I'm going to be doing bodywork anyways, which will mean I'll have to paint it anyways. And I don't want to paint it b&w again and draw attention to myself. I plan on putting the number back on the roof and little ones on the side by the gw symbol tho for rememberance

Just to be a little different I always thought the late 70's J-truck two tone would look good on a wag.

Yes I already got in trouble for starting a thread about it which ended up in people venting not so appropriate gripes about police but we're not going there.
Fact is its a law that is very open to interpretation by an officer, and I just passed an officer that felt like enforcing it. So now I gotta change it.
My old old threads talk about its back story, but quick synopsis...
1988-1996 Stationed in Oregon at a Fire Department (was all red then)
1996-early 2000s switched to oregon PD
early 2000s-2009 owned by family (got from police auction)
mid 2009-now MINE :D

Too bad! I always thought that black/white paint was really cool. Man you guys in Ca have way too many laws.

Seriously. I love the black and white paint. Wish I could keep it tho but it seems like too much of a hassle

Screw it..just have it shot all black. It has a good enough body to look good that way.

I know I was tempted by that, there are a few rust spots I want to take care of tho and its gonna be more of a DD than offroad rig so I want it to look nice

Honestly, I think you should be able to "restore" it to it's 'police' history, or at least the fire-truck..
Otherwise, I favor a dark satin blue. :D

You ain't just whistlin' Dixie!
Like was said above, you see ex-police cars all the time wearing this paint scheme all the time. This is just ridiculous.
There are entire clubs of people who paint their cars like Andy's, complete with lights and badges. They are street legal all over the US. As a matter of fact, this one is owned by a police officer in San Diego.
http://i984.photobucket.com/albums/ae324/DouglasRT/Real%20Movie%20Cars/Star%20Car%20Central/482.jpg
A quick look at their page shows that they have street legal versions of not only Andy's car, but the Starsky & Hutch Torino, and The Blues Brothers stolen police car. Some cool 'famous cars' here. It is worth a look if you like this sorta thing.

It would be sweet to see that. Not sure I would put woodgrain on yours with it being a low options model and all, but it would be cool if you could do something really creative with the scheme.

on second thought...screw re painting, gather up all this evidence and file a lawsuit!
but since less attention is required..perhaps not :)
There's a lot of nice satin paints out there, House of Kolor has a nice selection too. I'd find a body shop that does custom cars and see what they have to offer. http://www.houseofkolor.com/speedshapes/speedshapes_urethanes.jsp
