For what it's worth to you...
I was there today scavenging the last bits off an '88 GW when I spot the '79. Not too shabby overall. Little visible rust (except for a large hole in the floor behind the driver's seat). Good looking tailgate (window is currently up, so you'll need a BFH or a battery get it clear). It's a butt-ugly shade of rust-red. All its sheet metal is intact. Front and rear axles still under it, along with springs.
Once you go in, take a left towards the vans/trucks/SUVs section of the yard. When walking down the main drag, it's about 1/3 the way down on the left. The GW, if you're desperate, is 2/3 the way down on the right--not much left, though.
If you're coming from far away, I might be able to post some pics I took with my cell phone.
