Using the information from this page, I've attempted to specify the drivetrain of my '87 J20 and have come up with the following:
I know it has: 360 2V (195hp)
I think it has: 727 Trans. (3 spd column auto shift)
NP-208 Transfer case
D-44 Front
D-60 Rear
My question is, is there any reason to doubt this? Should I look for differing info. somewhere else? In case I need to R&R any of these parts, I'd like to know for piece of mind.
I'm not sure about the transfer case as the specs from this page read: "NP-208 1980-87 All" (this is the only transfer case that does not list the J 20 as an exception, and also covers my model year)
I'm also not sure about the rear axle as the spec reads: " D-60 1969-88 Z series trucks Full-floating axle J-20 only". This is the only desciption that appears to match my vehicle for year and model.
I sincerely appreciate Mr. Schaeffer's contribution, but also hope someone out there may be able to confirm this information.
Thanks for your assistance.
