View Full Version : Custom heater/AC vents

I pulled the bulky heater and AC units and am building a compact unit to fit completely behind the dash on the right side. There will be very nothing under the hood.
Has anyone used the clock and ashtray spaces as vents? Figured I'd ask and see if there is a vent from a different vehicle that is a close fit.
I'm off to the junk yard tomorrow to see what I can find.

One of the members is building a custom dash. He's using the Jeep metal and adding 4 vents and such... Just dont remember his user name, sorry.

Look up Krek and his dash mods.....it's what we all want in a dash :)

Subscribed! I am thinking of doing something similar. Please give all of the details of all the problems you run into.
The dash work starts on page 8:

Thanks guys. I was just finishing up reading Krek's build when I saw he has posted. Very, very nice work.
Mine will be a much simpler mod. I'm keeping the radio in the factory spot, and keeping the glove box. I just need to hit the yard and find some vents that will work.
It's really tempting to find a whole dash shell. Mine has the mounting holes for the pad. I welded up a few, but I'm liking the idea of bypassing that process. The biggest hold up is the dash is still in the vehicle and I wasn't planning on pulling the windshield any time soon.
