Warn 9000i

I acquired a used Warn 9000i.
I have never owned a winch before and am looking for some guidance.

It is an older unit and I was just wondering what to check, or rebuild if necessary, etc...

First thing I would check would be the cable to make sure it is in good shape and not frayed to bad.

Do you know if it even works?

I spooled out the cable and it looks OK most of the way.
12v in and out functions ok.
