I looked at an '83 GW tonight that's for sale. The front axle driveshaft and t-case had been swapped out. The T-case was a pass side drop and had a bolt on cover on the bottom with a drain in the middle of one end. I couldn't find a tag on it anywhere. Any guesses to what this t-case is? The front axle had a '30' on the housing and had smaller axle tubs than my D44's. I don't know what it was either. Guy wanted about $600 for it, but it is pretty rough, ran but not well.

T-case sounds like a Dana 20.

Possibly a 300 and front axle off of a cj. That's what my old cj7 had and looked similar. It was a good transfer case for me but I constantly had issues with the front axle(30)... I asked too much of a small axle and caused failures

no pics, didn't have a camera with me. would have looked like a big clump of dirt caked oil anyway.

The front axle looked kinda light for a FSJ. Is a Dana 20 decent Tcase? Being a pass drop, the shift lever was on the pass side of the hump and the shift lever was laid down against the floor. It has a white shift knob the said 2H at up left, 4H at back left, 4Lo at pass front and Nuetral at pass back.
I'm thinking I may let this one go, the transplanting reduces its value to me and the motor has it's share of oil leaks.

I say dana 20. My 300 in my cj doesn't have the bottom drain (if I recall correctly) like the 20 in my fsj does. And yes, both great, gear driven tc's. Either way, should be set. My $.02.

Sounds like a d20 and axle from an early 70s Wagoneer.

The U-shaped shift pattern would make it seem like it's a Dana model 20 out of an FSJ. The baby Jeeps used an inline pattern shifter. The fact that it's a frankenstein makes me suggest to you to let it go.
