View Full Version : Jeep should really build this!!!

This was introduced at Moab!!
"Our personal favorite? That has to be the Jeep Nukizer 715 (above). While the name could use a little work, this truck is the epitome of what we want to see Jeep produce. Designed as an homage to the legendary Kaiser M-715, this beastie makes use of a J8 two-door body and an aftermarket AEV Brute pick-up bed. Chrysler's engineers built that leaning front nose out of carbon fiber, and stretched the frame to 124 inches to make a little more room for the new bodywork. It only gets better when we start talking drivetrain. At its beating heart, the Nukizer 715 uses a 2.8-liter tubo-diesel four-cylinder mated to a four-speed slusher. A Dana 44 axle sits up front, backed up by a Dana 60 in the rear, both with 5:38 gear ratios. Perfection? You're looking at it."

That really is sweet. Seems like all the American makers are going back to some kind of retro looking stuff that actually works pretty well. I'm liking it so far.

Sell the S-10 (only need 1 truck)
Sell the YJ, the cherokee, and (gulp) the GW...
And I could make a down payment! And I would too! I told my wife if they ever built the Rescue close to the form of the concept that I would sell everything and get one. She seemed happy with that...but maybe it was just the Sell Everything part she heard..
Did they stitch in windows like on a soft top Wrangler?

meh..i think it's kinda funny lookin'. the whole front fascia is dis-proportionately small, the flares way too big and the tiny windshield.
looks like they cobbed up a wrangler with some tacky nostalgia. and likely because that's exactly what they did.

 I wouldn't get to concerned with it  truck will Never ever make production ;)
It was just whooped together to get everybody talking about Jeep just a big PR thing and nothing more
Chrysler to my knowledge has made NO mention of this Jeep ;)

Looks to me like a little jeep dressed up as a M715 using a bunch of plastic.
No thanks.

Personally, I love it. And I would trade in my JK in a second for it. The scale is a little bit off, but I could live with that.
I mean common. Diesel engine, D44 front, D60 rear, coil springs, good looks... Al it needs is a 3rd pedal. The slush box used in the JK's sucks. If it was a 6sp auto, I could probably live with it.

Check ouh this link.....I especially like the yellow wording right under the photo of the Nukizer 715. See link below.
Best Jeep pickup concept yet. I believe more photos will follow later in the week, along with test drive results from Moab.

We'll see. Chrysler definitely needs something to build sales. Fiat doesn't have anything interesting enough to warrant bringing it over here. If they build this, and keep the price down, I think it will go over well. I agree that it needs a manual transmission. Instead of a rag top, they could build a steel targa type top. The only thing they gotta remember is the old K.I.S.S. acronym. SOMEBODY needs to get with the program with the small diesel market. I'd rather it be Chrysler than Generally Malfunctioning Crap.

Well Ford has proven that the small truck market can still be lucrative.. and they are still peddling a truck that is basically the same since '93. If Fiat is smart and wants to expand the Jeep brand.. this would be a logical direction. I would honestly say I would buy it!

I don't know about that. I think the 715 is one sweet old truck but I would take this new one in a heartbeat. They can have all three of my current FSJs.
I guess it depends on what you want to do with it. I am not a rock crawler or any other extreme form of off-roading. I just like to ride trails and play in the snow or mud. And if I can do that in a fine looking Jeep but still have A/C and other amenities, I'm all over it. That is why I am going so far in adding all of that to my J truck.

Thats more of a replacement for the Comanche instead of the J series truck. They need to build a Full Size Truck.

I wouldn't even call the new JK's a Jeep...what a disgrace when they got rid of the TJ and the 4.0L. They should of just made a 4wheel drive minivan....thats basically all the jk is anyhow. Looks like someone had a lot of time and money on there hands to make something that will never see the production line. Nothing will ever compare to the real thing!

NU Kizer= New Kaiser?!?
I like it. Tougher looking than the current offerings out there, still keeps a bit of retro that seems to be so popular today. (Mustang, Challenger, Camaro)
Just like the E-Body Mopar purists were a little peeved at the newer offerings, I'd venture to say that we are in the same boat.
NO it is not the original M715, nor is it a J-10/20. Those are LONG gone, so lets keep up what is still left.
Take it for what it is; a retro styled truck, based on a mix of parts from current platforms, that pays a little homage to its past which appeals to a bigger audience (not just us FSJ Fogeys). Heck, maybe Jeep might sway a few potential buyers.
YMMV,
John

I love building... Seems like I always have a yard full or projects. It would be nice to buy for a change. The retro look does it all for me. Just like the new Camaro.
But I didn't see anything about price on this truck. If the really did build it I am sure it would be priced up there with the rest of the diesel 4x4s that are too expensive to buy. Trucks are trucks. I can't justify $50k for a truck no matter what it is.

Very nice. Too bad that every time someone from Jeep marketing signs on here, they get berated and flamed to the point they never come back. Otherwise, they might be interested in your comments.

i have one of their new products in my driveway, that i write them a check on every month. if that don't give me the room to laugh at a gimmicky wrangler what does?
I put down a deposit before the 2010 Camaro came out. My first car, oh man I loved it, was a 68 Camaro. I have had it for nine months and still think it is awesome and can not believe GM built it. Can not see out of it well, the C pillar is huge, I'm 5' 8" and almost hit the headliner. I love it!
I think that Jeep is a great gobley good looking truck as well:drivin:
As a side note, that Cherokee of mine also gets attention, not as much as when I got that Camaro. I had one guy stop me wanting to buy it. Shouldn't have told my wife that:eek:

My buddy came by the house in his new Camaro the other day. I have loved the new Camaro since the prototype was introduced. I'm 6'2" and have about half an inch above my head when sitting in it, but I'd still do it in a heartbeat if funds were available for more toys. That is one bad @$$ car!
The V6 has gone 13.97 @101 MPH in the 1/4 by a forum member on Camaro5.com with shorty headers and a CAI with an automatic.
My V6 has the long tube headers and was the first one to have them as it was used as the template to build off of it by Stainless Works in Cleveland, OH.

I lol at people looking down on people who buy a new car and are NEVER happy with anything new just because its NEW. Thing is almost every car out there is bought not built. We just throw together old parts already developed by the big guys (how many one off buggies do you see that were built from scratch and did not start life as a production vehicle? And of those few how many featured a custom built ENGINE not developed by a big company with millions in R&D? I am guessing this number is 0).
First point I am making is this: If only yuppies buy new vehicles there will be no decent used vehicles to built. I say we support auto manufacturers every time they take a step in the rigth direction. Which also brings me to my second point:
If you honestly think your bone stock 78 J10 will out wheel a wrangler rubicon, ford raptor SVT or even a hummer h3 alpha I want some of what your smoking because its some strong s***. Heck even a 2010 grand cherokee would walk all over ANY stock vehicle from before 1990 (braking traction control is a poor substute for a real locker but it DOES work).
I am not saying we should all run out and buy new vehicle because I know I for one don't wanna pay that much for one. What I am saying is this: Give credit where credit is due... Especially if you want to have any decent, cheap wheeling vehicles in 20 years.

I'll give it to them, I think it's a step in the right direction. And I'm not against buying new cars. But that one just doesn't appeal to me.

Could you explain? I thought AMC was an American company and Chrysler in the late 80's early 90's also.

And with the cleaner more efficient diesel jeep is focusing on I may be able to afford to drive it!
Could you explain? I thought AMC was an American company and Chrysler in the late 80's early 90's also.
I think Renault at one time owned a majority share in AMC resulting in selling off the part that supplied the goverment. Isn't that is where the Hummer came from, American General.
As I stated earlier, I own a 2010 Camaro. The Camaro was just a concept put together for car shows. From one of the 13 guys that worked on it to become a production car that posts on Camaro5.com, it received overwhelming response to build it. Just as this Jeep is just a concept.
However after the decision to build the Camaro, what design to use had to be made. It came down to three models, a 1969 inspired version, a modern version and one that looked as much as possible to the concept version.
The 1969 version was strong with the age 50+ group. The modern version was strong with the 30 and under group. The show car concept was used as it was strong across all age groups though it may not have been their first choice.
Keeping the truck too close to the original may limit sales.

same reason why the concept of the dodge power wagon never made it to the production line....no one wants a re-gurgitated "new and improved" version.

I thought the Power Wagon did go into production? I think it's a package for the Ram. Something about standard 4:11 gears, 4:1 t-case, etc. I could be wrong though.
Anyways, if I was in the market for a JK, I'd rather have the Nukizer. JK's are a dime a dozen anymore, the Nukizer is unique and I think pickups are more practical. YOU HEAR THAT JEEP/FIAT?!

Power Wagon did indeed go into production. Drove one 2 months ago. Eh, it was so so. Just a really dressed up Ram with an overinflated price tag. Would love to see the nukaiser go into production or at least AEV make a kit for a convert. However, you would have a tough time scoring a J8 in the US. Mopars website shows another J8 concept/build called Sarge. It was in JP a few months back. Also very very cool

Renault bought a big chunk of AMC in the late 70's, which forced the military operations to separate, forming AM General. Supposedly Renault invested the money to design and manufacture the XJ. Chryco bought AMC a few years later and Chryco itself has been under foreign control for a while...

Nope actually Renault only owned 49% and Chrysler wanted Jeep and the AMC engineers note the MJ/XJ front suspension on the 94'+ RAM trucks . . . AM-General was spun out as its own Company in 71' and was simply sold off . . .
Chrysler didn't buy the other 51% but instead they Merged as one forming Chrysler / Jeep / Eagle, took from 87'-89' to complete take over, note "Eagle" was introduced in 88' then dropped some later on in life . . .
American Motors General is still alive and well ;) did you know AM-G so produced their version of an FSJ 70'/71'- 82'/83' known as the AM715/720 the M715 contract ran til 78' after that ran out they updated the truck a bit and was sold over seas til 82'/83' were the design got sold to KIA motors which sells it as the KM450 :) ! AM-G's 79' Humvee took off around then and started US amred forces production in 85' . . . History lesson over :)
Oh the exported GI J-trucks Got Diesels even ! ! ! But for us we got the 258 instead of the 230 ;)

Oh they did get 3 updates for the 70'/71'-78' it had the standard J-truck front fenders, 258 I6, and 8lug axles, AM-Gs exported batch the 78'-82'/3' got different beds basically M-Series utility/cargo trailers as truck beds ditching the big round rear fenders . . .
I had photos of the 2 AM-G 715s basically the last batch looked like Honcho stepsides with J/20 running gear under it . . . Ill post'em up once I find my photos of them . . .

I like the AM Generals version better, the 78/9'-82'/3' exported ones got better boxes tho, M-series utility/cargo trailers as bed or so they looked. Then sold the whole a shabang to KIA motors and is now named the KM450.
I had some photos of both AM715 versions I'll post'm when I find where I saved them, basiclly look like a Honcho stepside with J/20 running gear . . .
