I need to upgrade the braking system on my Jeep. It sucked bad w/the 33's. It was pretty spooky on some downhill sections of a trail I was on. I almost didn't think it had the juice to stop me. Anyway, I know riverbeast did the hydroboost system. Anyone else? I want more write ups if anyone has any. I was going to do something like this

I would like it to be cheaper than the $449 for the dual diaphram setup, if it is possible, but I don't want it to be booty fab either.
when I had a CJ-7 but now I have a FSJ. Would something like this work on the FSJ's?

you can X-Reference the 79 single booster you have to the J10... then to the J20 ... it should X-over to the dual diaphram of the same year....alot cheaper than the entire sytem like that....

Save a lot of $$$$ on the Dual Diaphram by using one from a Grand Wagoneer I believe 86 and up for sure, as well as J20. I would have one if you are not finding one local.

Is a dual diaphram setup going to provide me with much better brakes or just marginally better? Anyone have any experience with the setup?

Its a big differance, though the Hydroboost would be a bigger differance. However going from a single diaphram to a dual, you will learn quickly to use a lot less pedal pressure to slow down......................have you passengers wear seatbelts! smile.gif

is there a way to visually tell if a brake booster is a single diaphram or dual?

Yup, Look at yours in your 79...........then when you see a dual......it will be twice as thick as yours. ;)
