When I leave my fsj sitting up for a couple of days I always seem to get a spot under the transmission. I have been told this is normal. Has anyone else experienced this. If there is a fix for this please let me know. Thanks

never normal... depends how much.....

and where exactly it is drippring from.....

the pan could need a little tightening... not too much....

which year wagoneer? stick or auto.....

sometimes oil from some other location.... will flow toward the trany....

color of the fluid?

red fluid, its a 78 wagoneer, auto. I was told that the torque converter sometimes lets all the fluid run out when the vehicle sits up too long, guess that was bad info.

i know on my 83 the dipstick grommet is leaking a bit,but yours might just be the pan gasket.

Well, on the 78 you got a TH400 that has two "O" rings (modulator and dipstick tube) that are replaceable from the outside.
You also have the seal at the shifter fork, replacable from the outside with a special tool (never done that myself except with the tranny rebild. a bit easier then I suppose).
Then you have a seal on the tranny for torque converter, up inside the bellhousing on the front of the tranny pump housing (your gonna drop the tranny if it's that one).
Last but not least is the pan gasket.
If it's the pan gasket and the gasket looks all bulged and the pan flange looks tweeked, pull it.
Straighten the pan flange, replace the gasket, heck, replace the filter while you are there.

I'll have you know I went to one of the best TH400 rebuild schools in the galaxy ;)

Between the video, the ATSG manual, my excellent training last year, what a competent person can do in 2.5 hours I can now do in 14 hours
