My 91' woody was doing fine for like a week after I got er then about 2 weeks ago started to make a funny noise. After about 30 mph it starts to whistle but only when I take my foot off the accelerator. Twice it kept making the noise till I stopped but as sson as I got out or popped the hood to hear where it was coming from it went away, and at the same time when I try to accelerate from a turn or stop if I press the gas pedal to fast the engine wants to die out and twice has cut off once on a turn.<<<carb? I havent owned a carb vehicle since like 95'(1979 toyota corolla)

sounds like it could be vac...check all your lines for cracking and dryrot, may want to put up some details on your signature for the folks here to see what kind of gear you're runnin' (ie motor, tranny, mods, etc...) to get better response and more accurate diagnosis. With the whistling while acceerating, sounds to me like you will probably find little cracks in your vac lines that tend to show up only when under acceleration is why the whistling goes away. Stress cracks in old hose...
good place to start anyway...
