engine swap

please give me some advice i have a 78 cherokee with a 360 th400 and the motor is bad how hard would it be to put a 318 in this jeep some one will give me one if it will work what adapters would i need and has any one ever did this swap befor all answers would be greatly appreciated thanks richard

It would not be that easy. If you do, plan on a different tranny. Please don't take this the wrong way, but you are aware that the 360 you have is not a Dodge 360, right?
Take the 318 and look for someone to trade it for a AMC 360. That would be the least trouble and expense, IMHO.

Cost more to adapt a Dodge motor into your Wag than the cost of a replacement AMC 360.
