Does anyone know where to find a reflective hood insulation pad like this one...? They look nice, but I am also wondering if anyone's had any experience with these.
I have seen this and some other goodies on this website www.grandwagoneers.com (http://www.grandwagoneers.com), but I cant seem to find this particular product

I think they sell that at Keyston Brothers... Google them, they may have a warehouse in your city. They also have the best fabric glue in the world, HH66.

Thanks for the information, everyone - I'll check these out.
The main reason for me looking at this reflective hood insulation is mainly because it looks very nice, and I guess it would help keep the engine area cleaner as well (no loose insulation fibers). Also, I read that by eliminating or reflecting heat away from the hood, it would save the piant on the other side.
If anyone's used this, I'd be interested in hearing your feedback.
All the best!

Just ask my blue Sluggo II. The heat from the engine compartment fries the hood finish from the inside out, ruining the paint and clearcoat (though I've heard stories of the clearcoat being junk to begin with). Also, a warm engine compartment is better for general operation of the engine; I got that from an article I read years ago. Also, it's quieter.

My motivation is sound & something capable of putting up with the conditions sound deadning material won't stay on there. Every new car built has it for good reason.:drivin:

Keystone brothers will sell to non-wholesale, I have done it many times. just tell them you will pay the tax.
Mine has the hood blanket too. I can only see it as a good thing.

Hi,
I'm from The Netherlands and would like to see if I can order this product or anything similar from a local store. Could anyone tell me what the name of this product is, or how I can describe its application if I cannot find the exact product?
Thanks in advance!

It's Double Reflective Foil Insulation. Trade name of Reflectix is something very similar. It has lots of uses around a home and you should find it near the standard roll insulation in a home improvement store. It's often in an 8 meter roll, about 1 meter wide.

I can verify this. If you click on the link in my sig the two or three damaged spots on my hood should be plainly visible... and Bessie has no insulation under the hood.

You can get it at Home Depot or Lowe's, too.
