I'm looking at a PRISTINE (so they say and pictures show) 1976 Jeep Cherokee Chief on Sunday. Any words of advice on what to look out for? I love these things and am stoked for it, but admittedly am somewhat of a novice, it's my first one! :D

Just check the floors for ventilation, if it runs and drives out other than that, go for it.

Are you rich? Are you a mechanic? One or the other, these things are not low maintenance. Have you bought it yet? If so, find the tech service manual for it, you will need the wiring diagram soon. Search this site for that year and model, and plan on fixing the same problems. And enjoy the looks from envious people as you cruise around in your American Icon. FSJ = cooool...

You definitely don't have to be rich; I own one! :D But, I'm a quick learner and I don't mind the various messes you can get into with an older rig like this. It's worth it just for the ride, to me.
