I have finaly got tired of my suspension making creeking noises and hope someone out there can help. 1990 GWag. Rancho 2.5" lift 31X10.5 tires. Track bar and stabilizer bar still installed. Makes noise slightly on acceleration, worse when turning left and accelrating. Is there a fix or is something I'll just have to live with.
BTW I went with the front Spring pack from Rancho and the Heavy-duty rear add-a-leaf.

Did you get polyurethane bushings on the front springs??? If you did that could be some of your noise. The polyurethane is very loud(makes alot of squeeks) and need to be oiled or lubed often to minimize noise.

Rob, What do you think of the Rancho/AAL vs stock setup, much difference between the ride/comfort level? Did the AAL end up being too stiff?

I too am iterested in this, as my curret springs are horribly stiff. I plan to do a shackle flip in the rear however.

The rear Heavy duty add-A-Leaf is a little harsh but the front springs are not too bad I got right at 2.5in of lift and have plenty of room for the 31x10.5. I also added the rancho shocks and steering stabilizer. The overall ride isn't too bad. I had a 83 that I did just the aal. I wished later that I had done it differently. I'm really happy with the results.

Hey Rob,2 Questions?1.Would the 31x10.50 tires have worked O.K. without the lift?2.how much did the add-a-leaf,front susp.pak, and 2.5 lift cost? Thanks,Gary p.s.Your not too far up the road are ya?!

I've got 31x10.5 BFG AT's stuffed onto my stock (for now http://www.ifsja.org/ubb/biggrin.gif ) 88' GW I get a little rub @ the front frame w/ tight corners & a bump thrown in. the rears touch the front edge of fender under a heavy bump. It's amazing that they fit, but it works okay for now. I'm also using the stock wheels (15x8's). Hope this helps. http://www.ifsja.org/ubb/smile.gif

I've seen 31x10.5 stuffed under a Wag with out a lift like "Horse" but if your doing some offroading you will get some pretty good tire scrub.

while researching spring options for the 69 (only to find that only rancho has fronts, rears do not exist yet, rusty is supposed to come out with a front and rear 3" lift spring setup w/shocks for ~$550 at the end of the month for 63-69, but that's another story...) I was really suprised to see that the spring info in the TSM shows the rate on the front springs for the 69 to be 250lb/in rated. After reading thru the Rancho stuff they show that there springs are 604lb/in rated. Yipes! big difference, so i gave their tech line a call to find out what the deal is. Apparently the spring is too old and they don't have alot of info about it, but they did have a database of all complaints/calls, etc on the spring (RS24043) - but - it shows no calls/complaints/etc. hmmm, so i asked him about the difference between stock 250 rate and the published 604 rate --- "wow, thats a big diff, hold on and i'll see if thats a misprint." he comes back "sure enough its a misprint, the original specs say that the rate is 595" :>
if a 600 rated spring really makes the jeep work off road, no wonder we get saggy waggy's...
no rate info on the AAL other than the fact that there are 2 AAL's, the softride and the heavy duty.
