If you run Sand Lake the regs are the same in the Dunes NRA. Call the office in Reedsport for the exact size of flag and height. If you are planning on going on a 3 day holiday w/e, you need reservations for camping.

I have always heard about sand lake, just not sure where its at.

How do the fsjs do in the sand? I'm getting a new project rig and that is the direction i'm looking to go with it.

You'll do fine. There is a way around most everything. Even going down to the beach is an easy climb back out. Air down if you have a way to air back up. Flags are supposed to be 9' off of the ground i think.

Sand Lake is just north of Pacific City and south of Tillamook. I have run both coast and Christmas valley sand in my 81 with 3.31's, 31-10.5;s, 360 and T18. I usually run around 10psi in the rear and 12 or so in the front, Takes me where ever I have had the guts to try. For a 6k lb. rail, they don't do too bad.

Sandlakes flat, nothing really challenging and you can run to the end and back in 20 minutes. Sandlakes a good quick trip to get away but I've been all over the Oregon Coast and if you really want a fun dune trip make the drive to Florence, Winchester Bay, Hauser, Spinreel or Horsefall. A lot more variety and challenging terrain. A lot more entertainment to watch if u wanna see some cool sand toys climber steeper dunes. Watch ur speed on the dunes, on the beach it's 25mph and they don't warn u...they just ticket u. As long as u have a bright orange flag and an ohv sticker ur good.

Horsefall is an excellent place to camp and run in the sand. My favorite past time is to sit in the parking lot and watch the idiots suck the guts out of their power strokes pulling 50' 5th wheels out on the sand.:D

I won't run coast sand anymore, just too many quads and bikes anymore. And most of them are IDIOTS. Last time out they used us for a moving slomon course, had a quad jump over the top of me when he came off a dune and we were below, then a bike with a paddle came charging up alongside, made a hard 90, hit the gas and filled the inside of the rig, and me, with sand. Figgered, thats it, done. When we want to play in the sand, now we go to Christmas Valley.

Not really that far- about 100 miles SE of Bend. Region 6 of the PNW4WDA does a work party with BLM over there on Memorial Day w/e, with a business meeting, and a Poker Run tossed in on Sunday. Dry camping, and fuel, store, etc is around 25 miles away.

Towing stuff, and going over 58 (easier pull over the hill) it is about 5 hours from the Albany area.
