Alright so my '90 waggy needs new tires. The ones on it are dry rotted, plugged and oh so classy. I wanted some BFGs but not for the price:eek: so the guy behind the counter suggested these http://www.yokohamatire.com/tires/geolandar_ats.aspx

My ride is stock without alot of sag. Want to go with 31x1050 on stock rims...will it work? And yes the waggy in my avatar is the one.

31's will probably be too much tire for a stock GW. The Yokohamas are supposed to be a pretty good tire for the cost. I haven't heard much if any negative things about them.

What do you mean by too much??? Alot of rubbing on the frontend inner fenders? Or just wear and tear?

Most likely will rub, I had 33's on a stock wag with trimmed fenders, the rears were really close to the springs, and the fronts would rub springs while turning.

So how big can I go? It's currently on 235 75r 15 right now, they seem small. My plan is for a BJ's 2inch just need tires now...and don't have the money for tires and lift right now.

We need tires too. We were going to get some goodyear wranglers from walmart 70$, which is about half of the price of some similar tires.

If I remember correctly, 30x9.50 is the biggest u can go without the rubbing on a stock wag/chero..

Yes, 31's WILL rub on articulation in a stock FSJ.

I had those tires a while back and they were pretty good. Though, the Hancook MT's were cheaper and had more performance offroad.

I like cooper and goodyear, most are made in the USA.

I have a set of these on my truck, there a good tire with a deep tread so they should last for a while and as long as the mud isnt clay like then youll be fine there. I was going toi get bfgs but these were a lot cheaper so ill just have to wait for the bfgs untill I lift the truck.:D

If you dont buy the 31's youll regret it. A little trimming, if needed is OK.?:p

I was going to go BFG's AT KO too but waiting to get lifted. I settled for SXT All Terrains from Les Schwab just last week. Rated for 40K miles! Those will last a long time and make good spares once I get a lift in and go bigger! I know I need a pic to add....

While it's going to be a while before I need a new set of tires for the GW, I can't help looking at the TireRack's website to see what's a good tire at the right price. I was really impressed with the customer feedback on the General Tire Grabber AT2's, and at ~$99 a piece (http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tiresB.jsp?tireMake=General&tireModel=Grabber+AT+2&partnum=375SR5GRAT2OWLLT&vehicleSearch=false&fromCompare1=yes), they seemed like a pretty good deal on a tire that appears to compare nicely to the BFG's. I'd love to hear if anyone here's had them, and what they thought.

I put these on my wife's Montero. They have been good tire, not too noisy, fine in the snow. We're at about 30,000 and they are starting to crack in the treads. That's a pretty good amount of miles out of them I guess.

I don't know how much my 90 has been lifted. I am thinking 2-3 inches. But it is running 31s. I don't think they would work well without the lift.

The 87 is stock height and is on 30s.

More angles of the two parked together can be see at this link for comparison.

I have 2 Geolanders on my Dodge and 2 Big O Big Foot AT's (made by Cooper) I like them both. They are not as noisy as the BFG's on my Waggie. If you can find Kuhmo, they are supposed to excellent for the price. I have not tried them yet. I had 31's on an 87 with stock springs. I would get rubbing at the front at a full turn. The rubbing was inside at the spring. I would also get a slight rub at full articulation in the rear at the top inside of the fender well. I did not mind it. My experience, yours may vary.

I have Geolanders on my Tundra, 3 years and no problems. I'd buy them again.
