The PO of my 87 wag put headers on and didn't bother to see if any hoses/wires were in melting distance. The header melted one of the hoses for the A/C compressor (On of the 2 that enter the firewall).

I was told that this hole(1in long, big one) in the hose could have burned up the compressor? Does that sound right?

Anyway, it doesn't work, i have taken it off until i come up with a fix. So i was wondering if there is a rebuild kit for it (York Automation/Suction), if not, you guys know of a place to get a replacement?

If your A/C system was open and all of the refrigerant released, it is very possible that yor compresor was damaged. The York is a tough compressor and does not rely solely on the greon flow for lubrication however. If you place your finger over the discharge port and feel a strong push of air when you turn the inner pulley, it may be OK. I wouldnpt try to rebuld it if it is bad. You should reassemble the system with a new hose and have it evacuated as soon as possible to avoid corrosion inside the system that will make it impossible to ever get to work right. A good source for parts is acsource.com
