I am going to put a CB and a Ham radio in my Waggy. I'd like to see some pics of installations in your Jeeps. Particularly I am interested in antenna mounts (I think I'll be going hood mount for the CB and magnet roof mount for the Ham) and also ground strap locations. I'd like to see how you have mounted your radios.

I will post some pics of both my CB and my Ham as soon as I get a chance.

Kris-
I am probably going with that same CB. What do you run for antennas? Any issues with engine electrical noise?
No issues with noise.
CB is on a firestik.
8800 is on a Maldol ex-107bnmo.
Both on the roof.

I am doing the same thing. I don't have a headliner and I don't plan on putting one in. I am going to add an accessory "Bar" across the interior roof that runs under the visors (for and idea of location). I am going to mount both radios up there. I thought that maybe I may have go past the doors in water at some point and i don't want to get the radios wet.

ComancheSniper-
That sounds like an interesting idea you have there. I like the idea but I have a working (!!) overhead console so I think I'll mount mine under the dash. There isn't much water to drive through around my area. I may remove the a/c ducting (going with onboard air) and mount them over the trans hump.
Anybody have any suggestions for books on amatuer radio?

I have some study manuals that I should be able to find for you if you're interested?
But before that you need to visit the American Radio Relay League's home page at arrl.org.
Send me a PM if you'd like to know more about it.

I was thinking about mounting a CB in the glove box, is there any room behind the glove box to cut the back out for a small CB (1990 Waggy dash)?

My Cobra 29 CB is mounted in an aftermarket floor console (replaced the armrest) alongside a stereo amplifier. The truck was wired for an old school cell phone so power was already dropped.

There is just about no room behind the glove box to install a CB (cutting through back), so this may be the way to go, should store nicely in glove box.
