humm??
Last week i removed the CC black box from under my dash. I wonder if that has anything to do with it?? Shouldnt it be powered down with the key off?

what are the most probable locations for shorts with the key turned off?

Tourettes... You would think so ... Mine has not worked since but I did't even look to see if a fuse was bad.. It's to difficult for me to get under the dash.. I'll bet someone will come up with more ideas...

My battery drained the other day when I left the glove box light on. And, I think the cigarette lighter compartment is also lighted. Larry

Maybe the light under the hood or a bad diode in the alternator.

Check your primary ignition circut. My fathers 85 was staying open and was draining the battery because there was a constant draw. It eventually got the point where if you turned the key off the motor would still crank. As a matter of fact my 86 has the same problem, that will be fixed when the motor swap takes place.

Mine was doing the same thing after I changed the carberator, turns out it was the electric choke. I had it wired to a constant 12v instead of a "on" 12v.

Tourettes: On the 85 Wag all the problem was believe it or not was the starter solenoid. What happened was the contacts on the inside the housing were so worn they kept making contact. However, with the 86, I changed the solenoid and it is still doing the same thing, I think the problem lies in the ignition wiring for thatm I am pretty sure there is short because I am getting power to the coil with the ignition off. I am going to have to take a look at it while the motor is out, it will be a little easier.

The mystery battery drain on my Cherokee turned out to be the rear window switch inside the tailgate. Got stuck in a closed position.

Figures it decided to crap out the day I was leaving for a long trip and I couldn't pack the truck in the morning.

Just another thing to check.

The diodes in the alternator could be starting to go causing a constant drain on the battery .
