Maybe one of you electrical gurus can help me out. My wipers and my radio are suddenly not working. I'm not so worried about the radio, but with winter coming on the wipers will definatly be needed. I checked fuses and the radio fuse was blown (I repalaced with no results--still not working). I couldn't find a fuse for the wipers though. One other thing, when I was driving home the other day, just before the wipers and radio stopped working, I smelled a faint burning. this is all in a 78 chero. Is there a fuseable link or something I should be looking for? Am I just missing the fuse? I didn't think the radio and the wipers were on the same circuit, am I wrong or is it just a coincidence that both went out at the same time? Any help would be appreciated.

The wipers are fused with a 10 amp fuse in the regular fuse block - next to the blinker. I think thats the only thing on that fuse, but I'm not positive. Why the wipers aren't working I don'know. I am having a problem with my wipers quiting at inconvenient moments and then later coming back on (after it's cooled?). The burning smell doesn't sound good (its not good even when its not in your Jeep).

Follow your wires from the wiper motor to the fire wall. They may have worn through the insulation and shorted out against the steel. Mine wires were a mess going through the fire wall and had gobbs of silicone pasted around that area, covering up a problem.

I'm not an electrical wizz, but I do know that with a test light, you could see if your wiper motor is getting power and start tracing back along the wires until you get to the fuse block.

thanks for the recommendations. The wires coming through the firewall may be a good bet since more than one system was effected.
