Can anyone shed some light on the model years that this was used? I installed the spacer and flex plate. Everything fit fine until you try to connect to the transmission. There's not enough of a gap. It bolted up just fine after I removed the spacer. I can see no difference between the 360 I removed and the 304 I installed. Did the early 304s have a different crank? Was it used on transmissions with an adapter for the AMC motor?

see if i get this you got a 304 from a 1973-5 and a 1982 wagon the 304 had a auto (th400) and the 1982 had a auto(727) you put the spacer(bellhousing or flywheel??) on the 1982 360??? that is going into the 1973???

I sold the chero. I had a 360/TH400 in the truck. I replaced the worn out 360 with a fresh 304. The 304 had been mated to a TH400 (no spacer). I tried to use the spacer on the install, but there's no way it will work. I have no idea what year it is. The 360 was from a '79 wag. The spacer goes between the crank and the torque converter.

if i see it right you dont need the spacer but you will need the pilot bushing in the crank for the th400
