I have a 74 chero with a 3" lift, and when ever I turn left or right there is a loud pop underneath the drivers floorboard. I thought it might be the pitman arm, and that I might need a drop down pitman arm because of the lift. Anybody know? The frontend is in average shape, nothing really wornout ( at least that I can tell). Thanks

Spring-bushings often do that, especially when it's damp out. Did you tighten your bushings down when the truck was sitting on the wheels, or did you do it when the wheels were off the ground and the suspension was unloaded?

I actually bought the chero right after the guy installed the lift. Are they supposed to be tightened under a load or not? To what ft/lbs, do you know? Thanks glenn tx for the link.

Tighten the bushings with the vehicle on the ground. There are torque specs that I do not know, but I have always been told to tighten the nut until you can just start to move the bolt by itself with a wrench. This way there is a little bit of movement for flex and the bushing is not frozen to the mount. You should not be afraid of the nut backing off because the nuts are self locking, or should be.

i had that happen on my 69' j3000 with the d44 closed knuckle. but it was more like a loud bang. turns out i burned up a king pin bearing...doubt this helps. =P
